About the Job
This position is responsible for design/development of electrical systems, processes, and components as well as assisting with hardware and software integration for new and existing products within Fontaine Modification’s eMobility and zero emissions offerings. Products can range from simple chassis/cab bolt-on items to conversion of ICE chassis to battery/fuel cell electric propulsion. Projects must meet time and budget requirements in order to fulfill the requirements of customers internal and external. Each project requires an accurate design with bills of material and engineering drawings, assembly work instructions, and calculations as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
- BS Degree in Electrical Engineering (other engineering degrees considered with appropriate experience)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical/systems engineering within automotive or commercial truck BEV/HEV/FCEV field
- Capable of developing component through vehicle level high voltage, low voltage, and CAN architecture; along with associated schematics
- Experience building wiring harnesses/cables and soldering
- Experience in AutoCAD Electrical or equivalent
- Experience in 3D CAD design a plus (Autodesk Inventor, Solid Works, or CATIA)
- Experience with CAN communication protocols,(SAE J1939 and ISO 11783)
- Experience using Kvaser, Vector, and similar tools a plus
- Experience with model based systems engineering a plus
- Experience related to diagnostics of electrical/ mechanical/hydraulic systems in automotive, heavy truck or off-highway equipment a plus
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal - Flexibility in performing a wide range of tasks, responding to changes in direction and priorities, and accepting new challenges, responsibilities, and assignments
Capable of moderate travel (approximately 20%-40%)
