Drivetrain Changes

We have extensive experience changing driveline configurations. We plan and design component changes before we begin modification work. We have advanced engineering, quality components, a full range of drivetrain products for trucks and specialty vehicles, and custom solutions.

Fontaine’s “Plan First” approach to engineering means:

  • All designs meet FMVSS, DOT, and EPA compliance standards.
  • Electrical wiring changes fit well into the OEM’s factory harness designs.
  • All changes blend well into the truck manufacturer’s existing design.
  • Fontaine’s “Plan First” approach means all trucks in a fleet get a consistent, high-quality result.

Variable Power Divider

  • Power-Take-Off module positioned between combustion engine and transmission
  • Divides chassis engine power into variable outputs for propulsion and PTO
  • On-the-fly PTO mode shifts for increased productivity
  • Integrates seamlessly with industry leading engines and transmissions
  • Single engine solution that eliminates auxiliary engine cost, fuel consumption, emissions and maintenance.

Driveline Retarder

Retarders ensure the vehicle’s braking needs. Vehicles equipped with a Telma retarder can multiply the lifespan of their service braking system up to ten times: maintenance costs are therefore greatly reduced and operational availability is increased.

Auxiliary Axles

Additional axles may be specified to improve the load capacities of many chassis and can be mounted in front of, or behind, the drive axles. A full range of lift and steerable versions is available.
